 2017 Preview

Lauderdale County completed the 2016 season with a 7-5 record. Last year Lauderdale County captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 3A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-1 record. Lauderdale County reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Ohatchee by a score of 49-21.

The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2009.

As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Lauderdale County has gone a combined 67-21. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Lauderdale County has managed to compile a record of 184-117. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 3A and 80th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2009.

The Tigers are led by head coach Jeff Mason who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-5 record in his first season at Lauderdale County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Mason.

Coach Mason's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-5 (58.3%).

The Lauderdale County Tigers will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2017 season.

The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region eight this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2009 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2017.

The Tigers open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Rogers on Thursday, August 31 at Robert Earl Grisham Stadium. Last year the Rogers Pirates finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class 4A region eight. The Pirates lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Madison Academy by a score of 25-7.

Lauderdale County and Rogers have met a total of 57 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 32-24-1 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2016 with Rogers winning by a score of 27-12.
